Adding & Maintaining Records of Medications Given

When you administer non-prescription medications like monthly flea and tick medicines to your animals, or when you want to enter prescription medications you have given and you don't want to include all the prescription details or establish automatic reminders, TYR enables you to add the information to the animals' records using the Meds feature. (Note: If you want to enter all the details for prescribed medications and have the system set up automatic reminders for future doses, use TYR's Prescriptions feature.)

Adding a Medication Administered to One Animal

On the TYR Home screen under Modules, click Animals to open the Manage Animals screen.
In the center grid, select the record of the animal that received the medication by clicking the cell at the farthest left on the row containing the animal's information.
On the right side of the screen under Animal Health, click the Meds button to open the Manage Meds screen.

IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT THE MANAGE MEDS SCREEN:

(a) In the Meds Given view, the center grid displays details of every medication you have recorded in TYR as having been given to the animal, including Prescription medications.

(b) In the Med Reminders view, the center grid displays all past, present, and future reminders for medications that have not been marked as "Given." To learn more about reminders, go to the REMINDERS section in this User Guide.

4. Click the Add New Meds button (

) to open the Medicine Given screen.

5. In the Date Given field, type the date you administered the medication or use the Date Picker to select it. (Note: You must use a past date or today's date. The system will not accept a future date for this entry.)

6. In the Medicine field, select a medication from the list. If the prescribed medication does not appear in the list, skip this step and go to Step 7.

7. If the prescribed medicine does not appear in the Medicine list, select the "Other Med" checkbox and type the name of the medication in the field to the right of the checkbox.

Note: If you want the new medication to be available for future selection in the Medicine field, select the "Add to Saved Meds" checkbox. To include additional information about the medication for future reference, go to the procedure for Adding & Managing Medicines.

8. In the Dosage field, enter the dosage you administered to the animal.

9. In the Person Administering field, enter the name of the person who administed the medication to the animal.

10. If you think additional information might be helpful, type it into the optional Notes field.

11. Click Save. You are returned to the Manage Meds screen where you can see the added medication in the center grid and a confirmation message at the lower left corner of the screen.

Adding a Medication Administered to Multiple Animals

On the TYR Home screen under Modules, click Animals to open the Manage Animals screen.

In the center grid, select the animals that received the medication:

TO SELECT	DO THIS
Multiple animals adjacent to each other	Click the cell to the left of the uppermost animal you want to select, hold down the Shift key on your keyboard, and then click the cell to the left of the bottommost animal you want to select.
Multiple animals not adjacent to each other	Click the cell to the left of the uppermost animal you want to select, hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard, and then click the cell to the left of each additional animal you want to select.

On the right side of the screen under Animal Health, click the Meds button. A confirmation popup appears, displaying the names of the animals you selected.
If these names are not correct, click No to return to the Manage Animals screen to repeat Steps 2 and 3.

If the names are correct, click Yes to continue. The Medicine Given screen appears, allowing you to record the same medication information for all selected animals whose names appear in the upper left corner of the screen.
Perform Steps 5 through 10 for Adding a Medication Adminstered to One Animal.
Click Save. You are returned to the Manage Animals screen where the animals you selected are still highlighted in the center grid, and a confirmation message appears in the lower left corner of the screen.

Note: You can select an individual animal on the Manage Animals screen and click the Meds button to access the Manage Meds screen to view details of the new prescription you just added.

Editing Details of a Medication Entry

On the TYR Home screen under Modules, click Animals to open the Manage Animals screen.
In the center grid, select the animal whose medication entry you want to edit by clicking the cell at the farthest left on the row containing the animal's information. (Note: You can edit only one medication entry for one animal at a time.)
On the right side of the screen under Animal Health, click the Meds button to open the Manage Meds screen.
With "Meds Given" selected above the center grid, double-click the cell at the farthest left on the row containing the medication information. The Medicine Given screen opens.
Make the desired change(s) and click Save. You are returned to the Manage Meds screen where you will see a confirmation message at the lower left corner of the screen. If you edited information that appears in the columns in the center grid, you will also see those changes.

Deleting a Medication Entry

On the TYR Home screen under Modules, click Animals to open the Manage Animals screen.
In the center grid, select the animal whose medication entry you want to delete by clicking the cell at the farthest left on the row containing the animal's information. (Note: You can delete only one medication entry for one animal at a time.)
On the right side of the screen under Animal Health, click the Meds button to open the Manage Meds screen.
With "Meds Given" selected above the center grid, click the cell at the farthest left on the row containing the procedure or test information.
Click the Delete button. A confirmation popup appears.
To complete the deletion, click "Yes." You are returned to the Manage Meds screen where the deleted procedure or test has disappeared from the center grid and a confirmation message appears in the lower left corner.
