Exploring the Manage Animals Screen

The Manage Animals screen is your "control center" for all recordkeeping for the animals in your care. To open the Manage Animals screen, simply click the Animals button in the Modules section of the TYR Home screen.

When the Manage Animals screen opens, so does a whole realm of special features. The screen has several distinct sections and tools, as indicated by the numbered areas in the screen image below.

Center Grid

1. Center Grid
The center grid of the Manage Animals screen displays a list of all the animals currently in your care, either at your shelter or in a foster home, along with a snapshot of the details taken from information entered on various other screens accessed from the Manage Animals screen. Just below the grid on the left, you can see the total number of animals currently in your care.

Grid Label & Toggle Button

2. Grid Label & Toggle Button
The Current Residents label indicates that the grid is displaying details about the animals currently in your care. These animals have a Status of "At Rescue" or "Foster." When you click the "Show Former Residents" toggle button, the grid changes to display a list of animals that are no longer in your care (adopted, died, released, transferred, returned to owner, lost). The button label also changes to "Show Current Residents," and clicking it changes the grid back to the list of animals still in your care.

Animal Name Seach Field

3. Animal Name Seach Field
This field enables you to easily find a specific animal by name. As you begin typing in the Animal Name Search field, the list of animals in the grid narrows down to names beginning with those letters. For example, entering an "s" will take you to the first "s" in the list and the grid will display all animal names starting with "s" in alphabetical order. Entering "sa" will take you to the first "sa" in the list and any other names starting with "sa" will also appear, and so on.

Filter by Animal Type

4. Filter by Animal Type
This tool allows you to filter the center grid by type of animal (dog, cat, horse, etc.). The available selections in the dropdown list are determined by what you create in your system setup when you customize your Animal Types.
5

Blue Buttons

5. Blue Buttons
Each of these buttons opens another screen where you can view information and/or perform important actions related to one or more animals you have selected in the center grid. To help you recall the purpose of a button, you can hover your cursor over it to see a "tool tip."

Animal Health Buttons

6. Animal Health Buttons
Each of these buttons opens a screen where you can enter, view, and/or manage health-related information for the animals you select in the center grid. (Note: You will find detailed information and procedures for each of these screens on their respective Help pages.)
7

Wide Exposure Button

7. Wide Exposure Button
This button provides access to a set of programs that enable you to showcase your animals on a wide variety of public websites like Rescue Groups, Petfinder, Adopt-a-Pet, and many more. The goal is to help you get more animals adopted. You can upload details about your available animals to Rescue Groups and they will showcase your animals and make them available on the other national pet sites.
8

Searches & Queries Buttons

8. Searches & Queries Buttons
Searches enable you to use a variety of criteria to narrow down your search for specific animal records, e.g., by type of milestone or health procedure, when you are looking for certain information in your database but are not quite sure how to find it.  Queries provide statistics such as number of intakes, adoptions, returns, etc. during a certain period of time, and certain details for the animals associated with the queries. (Note: These features do not require the selection of animals in the center grid.)
9

Reminders Buttons

9. Reminders Buttons
You can use the Reminders Buttons to view existing health reminders.  This same information is accessible from buttons on the TYR Home screen.
10

"GO TO" Buttons

10. "GO TO" Buttons
Clicking the Home button gives you a quick way to return to the Home screen and the PCO's button gives you a shortcut to the Manage People, Companies, and Organizations screen without having to return to the Home screen.
