Because telephone number format and length varies around the world, TYR does not automatically format telephone numbers. If you type the number in as 1234567890, that's the way the system will store and present it.
In the United States, most telephone numbers are 10 digits and are usually formatted in one of these ways:
(555) 123-4567
(555)123-4567
555-123-4567
(Note: You can even use one of these formats for toll-free numbers because the preceding "1" is understood.)
For consistency and to avoid confusion, we recommend choosing a telephone number format you like and sticking with it whenever you add or change a telephone number in a record.
